The New Moon – March 2023

An unexpected bout of COVID meant that I didn’t have the Ostara content posted before the event. I have today however managed to fill my house with the scents of a beautiful Ostara simmer pot. I made the simmer pot with ingredients and intentions that work with both Ostara and the New Moon, meaning I can chill the pot overnight and re-light tomorrow. We witches dislike waste. I will also be using the remaining liquid from the simmer pot to create a room spray.

Although the New Moon cannot be seen, the same cannot be said for the power it holds. This year, the new moon falls just a day after Ostara, the beginning of Spring and my New Year. This makes for one hell of a combination in terms of fresh opportunities and new beginnings.  You can use this the new moon to set your intentions for the coming moon cycle, begin working in a new project, start forming positive habits, and start manifesting something new.

I personally release negativity during the waning moon phase, but if you don’t, you can also use the New Moon to let go of the past, end bad habits, remove negativity from your personal energy.

I performed my house cleansing routine and ritual on 1st March, so will not be repeating for this New Moon but you can read what I did here. Instead, I’ll be utilising the power of the new moon to set my intentions around a new project. This will take the shape of a ritual using crystals and dressed candles in a grid of my own design which I am still working on. I will also be putting a bottle of water out to make New Moon water with the intention of it being linked to this project for future use. I may also do this with a bottle of the simmer pot water for extra potency.

New moon water can be used for:

• Intention setting
• Manifestation
• Beginning new relationships or projects
• Help with personal and spiritual growth

I also have a recipe for a New Moon spiritual bath here that will help to cleanse and ground.

However you choose to mark the new moon, I hope your workings are successful.

Blessed be.
