New Moon Ritual

Today sees the first new moon of the autumn and I find it a great time to not only set my intentions for this coming moon cycle, but also the coming season. I’ve had a lot of upheaval in my life recently, hence the lack of posts, and so I want to take some time to focus on where I want to be, what my goals are, and how I am going to achieve them.

I’ll be starting off by taking myself for a walk in the woods to do some grounding. I’m lucky that where I currently am there’s an ancient woodland and the energy is amazing; when you stop to consider just how many human lifetimes the trees have lived though it is so humbling.

I will also have a nice spiritual cleansing bath. As I’m currently not in my own home, this won’t be as ritualistic as I would normally do. I will start by cleansing the room, both physically and energetically; I have a wonderful elemental cleansing mist that dispels stagnant energy, and will also utilise crystal. The crystals I choose will be very intuitive and based on not only the crystals properties, but also whether they call to me. I’ve also already mixed together some herbal salts which are sat infusing in a small jar list below); the herbs all correspondences with purification, inner peace, spirituality and protection. I would also normally simmer this mixture before straining and adding to the bath water, but again, because I’m not in my own home I can’t do that today. Instead, I shall add the mixture to an insulated cup, cover with boiled water and leave steep for a while.

St John’s Wort

Grounded and cleansed, I’ll then take some time to think about the journey I want to take in the coming cycle/season before meditating. Quite often, I will be told or shown things during meditation that I hadn’t thought of, or overlooked, sometimes a totally new direction can be shown. Once I have completed this I will then journal my meditation and set my intentions.
