Easy Glamour Magic: Enchanting Your Everyday
Last night, as I was going through my bedtime routine, I was horrified to discover that my carefully blended face oil had leaked in my toiletry bag. I guess this was the universe giving me a metaphorical kick up the backside, as this glamour magic post should have been done last week, but I was away. We all go through the process of cleansing our faces morning and night, so why not turn the mundane into some magic? Enchanted cleansers, toners, and moisturisers are not just skincare, they are a spell, or layers of spells. This, dear reader, is glamour magic: enchantment that begins in the everyday, yet ripples through…

Summer Solstice and Midsummer Magic
The History of the Summer Solstice As the sun reaches its zenith in the sky and the days stretch to their fullest, we find ourselves at the height of the wheel of the year: the Summer Solstice. Often called Litha in modern pagan traditions, the Summer Solstice will occur on 21stJune and marks the longest day and the shortest night, a time when the sun lingers in our lives a little longer and the natural world is buzzing with vibrant energy. Here in the UK, the Summer Solstice carries ancient echoes and was a vital marker in the agricultural calendar. Long before clocks and calendars, the sun’s movement was the…

Yule Ritual
Life has gotten away from me recently, there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done. Preparations for the family Christmas are in full swing, but I will be taking some time for myself to celebrate the beginning of Yule. Due to the imminent arrival of small humans and my office/craft space being inhabited by a teenager for the next week, my Yule alter will be set in my bedroom – not sure how my partner will feel about this, but he does bring me feathers and pinecones and such so I’m guessing he will be okay. As always, a night of rituals calls…

I found myself when I lost myself
Summer has been an absolute whirlwind for me and hence I’ve been a little absent. But this absence caused me to reflect on the journey I have taken to reach this point in my life. And it was quite a journey! In 2012 (it’s hard to believe that it’s been 11 years) I had a rather spectacular breakdown (the first of many). I booked myself a cottage in the Peak District and disappeared for a week; I needed to get away from reality and allow myself to just ‘be’, to be at one with myself and with nature. Why the Peak District? I have no idea, it just felt ‘right’.…

The New Moon – March 2023
An unexpected bout of COVID meant that I didn’t have the Ostara content posted before the event. I have today however managed to fill my house with the scents of a beautiful Ostara simmer pot. I made the simmer pot with ingredients and intentions that work with both Ostara and the New Moon, meaning I can chill the pot overnight and re-light tomorrow. We witches dislike waste. I will also be using the remaining liquid from the simmer pot to create a room spray. Although the New Moon cannot be seen, the same cannot be said for the power it holds. This year, the new moon falls just a day…

The Tarot Journey
I first started reading tarot cards over twenty years ago, but life happened, and this took a back seat until last year. When I picked up my new deck, I found I needed to completely reconnect with how I read the cards; I have so much more life experience now which allows for a wider interpretation and it was a totally different ball game than when I was in my early 20s. So I went back to basics, connecting with the cards and my spirit team, asking set questions which only required a single card pull. This formed part of my morning routine; coffee, grounding, daily affirmations, and tarot pull.…

It’s Cinnamon Day
It’s the first of the month and witches everywhere will be blowing cinnamon through their front door, but why do this? Cinnamon has long been associated with abundance and prosperity, and the process of blowing cinnamon powder through the main entrance to your home (this does not need to be the front door if you rarely use it) symbolises you inviting abundance and prosperity into your home. In my current home, I tie this in with other rituals on both the first of the month and the new moon depending on when in the month that falls. Not only does this amplify the cinnamon ritual, but helps me focus my…
